Ccash dropped “I’m a stoner” freestyle yesterday and in the process reviled to us that he will be dropping a “all instrumental mix-tape” real soon. He says he has over THIRTY freestyles written to industry beats, some old some new, but explained that they won’t do anything “sitting in his book”. He says fans should expect to hear the mix-tape within a month or so because he’s already started the recording process. He says the tape will more then likely only drop on audiomack and soundcloud do to the fact his debut mix-tape “Downpayment” was just released two months ago.

Over the last ten years the biggest question surrounding hip hop is, is it alive or is it dead? I do not believe hip hop is dead but the game has indeed changed. I think hip hop is more so entertainment more then anything because of content in artist lyrics. Is it real, is it fake? I would say 80% of what artist rap about is fiction leaving the possibility of 20% truth and creativity. Most songs today you will hear the usual, sex, money and murder but everyone has their own twist and delivery which i believe is totally fine.

If you look deep down, sex, money, murder and drugs is what runs our community and what most rappers grew up around so it’s only right they express their feelings through rhymes in that sense. A lot of times us as music lovers we are always looking for something different other then the usual lyrics we hear but, are we really listening? The same things they talked about in the 80’s and 90’s is the same things they are talking about today just with a different delivery. Hip hop will never change, it will always be sex, money, murder and drugs, the flashy cars and expensive jewelry, the partying and the women. What is it that we are looking for?

What I can agree on is the number of one hit wonders that we’ve seen come and go. There are plenty of artist that has come into the industry based off a hit song and could not keep up with the level of expectations by their label. A lot of us wonder if hip hop is dead because of the new southern trend. I think we are still stuck on the “east coast, west coast” trend that actually brought awareness to hip hop or that style of hip hop i should say.

There are a huge amount of underground artist that are extremely talented and could see them om mainstream one day. For now we’ll s stick with what we have. Lots of great music.

We sat down with Richie Nixon earlier this week and talked about his upcoming mix tape and why Hip Hop deserves his different style of rap. Richie starting Rhyming about six months ago when he realized he needed a way to express his emotions in a different way. It all started from a hangout at a friends house where everyone was drunk and started to freestyle. He and his friends decided that that they would start their own movement “Poolhouse Ent.” Nixon says that he doesn’t compare himself to anyone in the industry because of his unusual style of rap but he does give credit to a lot of the Atlanta based artist  which motivates him to step his game up.

One of the most difficult things Nixon says he’s had to overcome so far in his career is criticism he received for growing up in what most people consider a good area in Philly (East Falls) and also that he’s a homosexual! Nixon says that it doesn’t bother him that people think the way they do because no one knows what he’s had to endure to get to the point where he’s at in his life. He says from here on out he’ll do what makes him happy regardless of what anyone else thinks.

I asked Nixon “Do you think it’s a place in hip hop for a gay rapper and do you think it will effect your career as an artist” Nixon responded with “Initially I believe I’ll receive backlash about it but, it’s no different from the backlash I received when I announced I was gay in high school. I was bullied and all kinds of things so I know it won’t be any worst then that. I think after a while it won’t even matter”. He says that TBM2 will be dropping real soon and he’s very excited about this project. He believes it’s a change of pace of what everyone else is doing right now in Hip Hop.

Nixon just signed a new deal with “Hot Boyz Records” and just dropped the group EP “Cartoon Mafia Vol. 1-The prelude”.  He worked with a few producers from Japan on this project and on TBM2 he’s worked with Mackboy and spaceghost purp. He will also be working with his in house producer Ronnie Regan. In addition to the new deal and working with these Hot southern producers, Nixon would like to work with Rell (Raider Clan), Rich da Kid (Quality Control) Yung lean (sad boys) Rick Ross, Wocka Flocka Aand Gucci man.

Be on the lookout for his TMB2 and make sure you download the Poolhouse Ent. EP  “Cartoon Mafia Vol. 1-The prelude”

Cooley Cool drops “try me freestyle” in the wait until his new mix tape “Revenge” drops in 2015. Groundzero has not released a release date as the project is still being worked on. Cooley says he’ll “KILL”every hot industry beat until the tape drops. Oh and by the way, none of these freestyles are making the mix tape, they’re for promotional use only!

After recently announcing that her album “The pinkprint” will be pushed back to december, Nicki Minaj released her Album cover art for the deluxe edition of her album. Nicki credits Kanye West and his team for the art work. Nicki says that her standard album cover art will be released soon. Young Money/Cash Money and Nicki says that the release date for the album is set for December 15th 2014.

GroundZero Management artist “Duszey” released “Son of Jason” single on Friday surprising a lot of his listeners with his unique lyrical style. He’s not your typical Philly artist and that’s what makes him extremely unique. He paints a picture that you can envision in your head when you hear his lyrics, separating his style of rap from a lot of his competitors. Don’t expect a project from “Duszey” anytime soon as he’s still in the early stage of the recording process but you can expect more freestyles and features until he completes his project.
